Description du poste
We are excited to be searching for a proactive and pragmatic Program Officer with an interest to join our team, and we hope it’s you!
Your role.
As Program Officer at IDH, you are responsible for providing administrative, logistical, and coordination support to ensure timely implementation of program activities, high-quality documentation, and compliant reporting. This role involves providing operational support, supporting stakeholder relationships, and ensuring efficient program execution in alignment with organisational goals.
This role will support the Central African Forest Initiative (CAFI) funded program which seeks to catalyse and de-risk private sector investment across agricultural commodity value chains, enabling them to become deforestation-free, low‑carbon, and climate‑resilient, while improving farmer incomes and livelihoods in Cameroon.
By combining targeted technical assistance, catalytic seed capital, and performance-based PES incentives, IDH aims to support local enterprises and farmers to adopt sustainable practices, generate verified environmental outcomes, and build credible financial and impact track records. These, in turn, crowd in commercial finance and long-term private-sector demand for environmental services, reinforcing policy objectives and national climate commitments.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the Country Manager in day-to-day coordination and follow-up of program activities, including action tracking and task prioritisation.
Maintain comprehensive project documentation (periodic reports, consultancy/technical deliverables, contracts, and minutes), ensuring proper filing in hard copy and electronic systems.
Support preparation, consolidation, and quality assurance of periodic narrative reports and other required submissions to donors and internal stakeholders.
Provide administrative and logistical support for the Project Management Unit, including scheduling, travel arrangements, workshops, and meeting logistics.
Support the MEL Adviser with routine monitoring tasks (e.g., data collection coordination, indicator tracking, and knowledge resource management) and ensure that evidence is appropriately archived.
Facilitate internal coordination by preparing agendas, minutes, and briefing notes; ensure timely circulation of decisions and follow-up items.
Support procurement and contracting administration (e.g., collecting required documentation, maintaining trackers, and ensuring completeness of files) in line with IDH procedures.
Serve as communications and visibility focal point, coordinating visibility materials and public engagement in accordance with CAFI guidelines and IDH communications standards.
Maintain accurate records and databases (e.g., contact lists, partner documentation, activity trackers) and contribute to continuous improvement of data quality and administrative processes.
Who you are:
As a Program Officer in Cameroon, you are comfortable balancing multiple priorities and tight deadlines across coordination, logistics, filing, and reporting activities. The work requires a structured and reliable approach, particularly in ensuring documentation standards are consistently met and records remain audit ready.
Strong planning and organising skills are essential, alongside a high level of accuracy when handling data, reports, and compliance-related documentation. Clear oral and written communication supports effective coordination with diverse stakeholders and partners, including in remote and field-based settings.
You are confident operating in a bilingual context, requiring the ability to produce high-quality written outputs in both English and French. Overall, this position calls for a detail-oriented and well-organised professional who contributes to smooth program delivery through clarity, consistency, and effective coordination.
What you bring:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (e.g., business administration, international development, environmental management, or related field).
At least three (3) years of relevant professional experience in project/program administration, preferably in natural resource management and/or sustainable livelihoods contexts; experience with impact investment-related projects is an asset.
Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Strong administrative writing skills, including preparation of meeting minutes and support to narrative reporting.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
Excellent command of both French and English (written, spoken, and read).
Position based in IDH offices in Yaoundé.
We offer you
An indefinite employment contract with full-time role in an impacting, international organisation at job level 14 – and:
Supplementary health insurance for you and your dependents.
13th month salary (pro-rated by the number of months worked).
24 days of paid leave per year (100% FTE).
All the work supplies for your working purpose (specifically laptop).
