MPower is a Swiss-based climate and fintech start-up that is revolutionizing energy access by providing small and medium-scale solar energy infrastructure in developing countries. Our innovative B2B model seamlessly integrates hardware, software, and financing solutions.

We launched our operations in Zambia in 2019. Since then, together with our partners, we have supplied thousands of customers with our solar systems. Our product range includes everything from small solar lamps to comprehensive solar home systems with matching appliances such as TVs, fans, and refrigerators, as well as large systems for SMEs. Recently, we have expanded our portfolio to include electric-powered vehicles, positioning us as one of the most innovative solar system providers in Africa.

We are currently active in seven African countries, with established local entities in 5 countries including Zambia, Togo, Ghana, and Namibia in addition to Cameroon. Each market is managed by a dedicated local Country Team reporting to the Headquarters.

The Country Manager will oversee market strategy, business development, and local operations, ensuring alignment with MPower’s mission and goals.

Areas of responsibility:

The main areas of interventions include, but are not limited to:

  • Market Development: 

  • Develop and execute comprehensive marketing and social media strategies. 

  • Build new distribution partnerships and enhance relationships with existing partners to expand market reach.

  • Field Operations and After-Sales: 

  • Lead strategic and tactical execution for market and business development efforts. 

  • Focus on supporting local partners and distributors with sales and operational activities to ensure seamless market penetration.

  • Support to Distribution Partners: 

  • Provide robust support to local partners in after-sales and customer service, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and loyalty.

  • Local Projects Management: 

  • Source and submit tenders, and manage the execution of projects in compliance with regulatory and operational market procedures. Ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope.

Qualifications, skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Marketing, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a managerial role as sales, Business Developer or related fields either in Cameroon or abroad, preferably in the renewable energy sector or a related industry.

  • Strong understanding of local market dynamics is required.

  • A demonstrated capacity to take initiative, overcome challenges and work collaboratively through relevant work or project experience.

  • Proven ability to develop and execute strategic plans.

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in French and English.

  • Team player and eager to learn new tools and roll-up sleeves to get the job done.

  • Entrepreneurial and creative mindset that is well connected.

  • Experience in financial services is a plus.

  • Knowledge of local languages is an asset.
