Sightsavers has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Driver & Administrative Assistant to provide support to Sightsavers projects in the Far North and North Regions Trachoma Elimination Program
Job location: Maroua, Far North Region, Cameroon
Reports to: NTDs Manager
Department: Finance & Performance
Salary: Local Terms and Conditions apply
Contract: Two Year Fixed Term Contract
Job purpose
The purpose for the post is to ensure a high performing program Office with efficient and strong operational resources as key components of Sightsavers projects in the Far North and North Regions Trachoma Elimination Program
You will be required to drive staff in the office as well as visiting Sightsavers staff and consultants when necessary, to ensure the maintenance and safety of all office vehicles at all times, and to perform clerical duties in support of the efficient running of the office.
The role also provides day-to-day administrative support including messenger tasks and duties, banking, liaison with visitors, receiving and directing calls, taking messages, receiving and circulating incoming and outgoing mail, distributing documents, assisting with workshop events and travel arrangements, undertaking photocopying, scanning, filling, and other administrative duties.
Principal accountabilities:
- Drives office vehicles for the transport of authorized personnel for project implementation;
- Collects and delivers mail, and other communications from and to the post office, government agencies and other institutions;
- Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle, check oil, water, battery, brakes, tyres etc., performs minor repairs and arranges for other repairs to ensure that the vehicle is kept clean;
- Logs all trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes, greasing etc;
- Ensures that in the event of an accident, Sightsavers rules/policies and traffic regulations are followed;
- Carry out banking/financial and other office out-door messengerial duties;
- Packs material received for dispatch, affixes labels, inserts material in envelopes and franks outgoing mail;
- Other office duties such as photocopying, faxing, scanning, relieving at the reception, handling of in-coming/outgoing telephone calls, screening of visitors, etc.
Knowledge (Education & Related Experience):
- A minimum of First School Certificate
- A valid driving licence B,C,D,E;
- Extensive experience gained in a busy office especially in the NGO set up;
- Be fluent in English or French Language, written and oral and a good command of Fulfulde is an added advantage
