ABOUT THE SOFTWARE ENGINEERING - HOLBERTON TEAM
We mentor and guide aspiring software engineers - and ensure that they are job ready for placement. The Software Engineering Team is a high-performing, agile team focused on equipping the next generation of tech talent on the continent. This fast-growing programme and team are instrumental to the growth strategy of the wider organisation and its impact to help upskill and place young Africans in dignified employment. We are building something big & ambitious, so there is immense room for growth, for exploration, and for learning. ABOUT THE ROLE

  • The mission of this job is to provide a safe space for participants to drive their own learning by removing any obstacles on their learning path, being observant and jumping in to guide when needed. You will be the point of truth when some issues arise between peers, or peers with staff. More specifically you will
  • Ensure that all students from around the world have the skills and support they need to successfully complete the journey to become software engineers.
  • Assist learners as they learn how to learn through the curriculum.
  • Be available daily on Slack to answer learners questions..
  • Meet with learners to address curriculum and tech related matters
  • Setup Peer Learning Days, release projects and quizzes, and do manual reviews
  • Organize events that support the student experience
  • Monthly check students performance data and engage with intervention measures to improve their scores and follow up as needed 
  • Assess deferment requests as per the deferment policy
  • Conduct 1:1 sessions with students who need specific support
  • Host periodical live coding sessions with the support of global technical mentors.
Profil recherché pour le poste : Technical Mentor

REQUIREMENTS:.

  • You have some experience in dev-ops and have worked with AWS, Heroku, Docker among others.  
  • You have a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or other related fields is an added advantage
  • You have proven experience as a Full-stack, Backend/Frontend Software engineer role or similar role
  • You have a projects portfolio with products developed
  • Product mindset: You are willing to take part in the design and development of great products on a day to day basis.
  • Intense customer orientation: You will be relentlessly obsessed with creating joyful and meaningful experiences for your learners.
  • You can thrive in a company that’s scaling very fast. 
  • You are Proficient with either Bash, C, Python or Java.  
  • You are proficient with or can work with relational databases like MySQL
  • You are proficient with fundamental front end languages such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
