Actions Against Hunger is an International Non Governmental Organiztion (NGO), apolitical, non denominated and non-profit. For our operations in Cameroon, we are looking for:
DEPUTY PROGRAM MANAGER MENTAL HEALTH AND CARE PRACTICE
M/F
Base: Buea (south west region)
Number of positions : 1
Contract duration: 5 months
start date: 1st of April 2020
supervised by: Program Manager -Health and Nutrition
Location : Buea and Kumba, South West Region
OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION:
Objective 1: To Contribute to the development of mental health and care practice strategy and programing
- Participate in the design of the strategy in AAH area of ââintervention
- Contribute to the transversal integration of the MHCP sector with the other sectors in collaboration with the Program Manager, taking into account cross-cutting issues in MHCP responses (SGBV, Gender, Protection, Disability, etc.)
- Facilitate awareness sessions during mobile clinics as per MHCP guidelines
- Participate in the development of educational materials and adapt them according to the target audience;
- Conduct psychosocial activities for mothers and children according to their needs;
- Evaluate the knowledge of the beneficiaries before and after the sessions;
- Organize and lead demonstrations sessions related to breastfeeding practices or child development;
- Encourage beneficiaries to participate in exchange and participation of beneficiaries;
- Evaluate the content of each workshop, analyze it and report it using the evaluation grids.
- Ensure general indicators are analyzed regularly
- Analyze MHCP key indicators in AAH intervention area
- Monitor and Integrate data and your analysis into the APR tool every month
- Learn about the sectoral orientations of the national strategy and understand the implications for its area of ââintervention
- Identify and Provide list of actors intervening in the areas and coordinate with them for referrals pathway
- Participate actively in the annual strategic plan of the mission
- Collect and share relevant information related to the context
Objective 2: To Participate in project development and needs analysis
Activities:
- Identify needs related to MHCP in AAH area of ââintervention and submit the report to your line manager
- Contribute to the design of MHCP intervention
- Participate in needs assessment missions (methodology, definition of tools, training of field teams, conduct of field surveys)
- Contribute to the definition of programs by ensuring the involvement of other intervention sectors, partners, etc.
Objective 3: To Contribute to the implementation, and develop project proposal of MHCP
Activities:
- Contribute to the implementation of MHCP program (s), in line with the LogFrame , budget, and AAH financial and administrative procedures
- Train the team on MHCP and address transversal challenges
- Develop technical methodologies for the implementation of the project (s), to be submitted for validation to the Head of the MHCP Department
- In collaboration with your team , Implement MHCP activities in all AAH mobile clinic sites
- Design, Write a monitoring and evaluation plan and apply it
- Conduct regular meeting with your team to monitor the progress of activities
- Report activities in the AAH APR tool
- Participate in the monthly budgeting monitoring exercise with the PM
- Participate in donor reports writing (intermediate, final)
- Submit field reports on time to your supervisor for validation and dissemination
Objective 4: To Participate in Coordination Meetings and represent AAH
- Participate and contribute to internal and external coordination meetings
- Represent AAH in MHPS and GBV technical working groups and sector
Develop lesson learnt and share beneficiaries stories
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Work closely with the PM and Assist the HoD, Mental Health and Care Practice in Identifying and implementing quality, relevant and innovative MHCP interventions in compliance with AAH strategy, international standards and national guidelines and policies
- Contribute actively to the implementation of mental health and care practices intervention integrated in the health and nutrition mobile clinic activities, providing psychological support to beneficiaries attending mobile clinics.
DIPLOMAS/STUDIES/EXPERIENCE :
- Essential: Master's degree in clinical psychology
- Desirable: Specialized in counselling on health related issues
Essential: previous experience of at least 2 years in similar or relevant positions in humanitarian context
REQUIRED SKILLS :
- Results, Good sense of confidentiality, Professionalism, teamwork, flexibility, commitment, Stress Management, good communication skills,
Essential computer literacy (word, excel and internet)
